Dwarka formerly known as Pappankalan is spread over an area of about 5648 hectares, 20% of which will be maintained as green, resulting in the availability of 15 square meter per person for green space and recreation. Which is in no way inferior to any city, sub-city in India.
In January 2017, Cabinet of India approved Dwarka to be second Diplomatic Enclave for 39 countries on 34 hectares, after Chanakyapuri.
Dwarka is being developed as a Smart City under Delhi Development Authority’s ‘smart sub-city’ project.
It is located in south west of Delhi and is surrounded by national / Indira Gandhi International airport (IGI) ,Cantonment area, Bijwasan, Janak Puri and Vikas Puri. At present more than 6,70000 Lakhs people are resident. This city is ready to accommodate around 45000 registrants of DDA other than 400 co-operative group housing societies and prestigious institutions. It also boasts of having number of renowned schools, colleges, business schools, Engineering colleges, banks, post offices, sports complex, tele communication and medical facilities. It is one of the major upcoming city of India.
Completion of flyover and underpass has greatly reduced the distance between Dwarka and other parts of Delhi. With the start of Metro the distance of about 26 km line is a mere 50 minutes pleasurable ride.
Nearness to Indira Gandhi airport and dearness to the DDA will no doubt make the city an international city, a worth living city.
