DDA Shows Positive Signs for Revival of Water Bodies

Chief Engineer to Visit the Water Bodies Personally

As reported earlier, a group of activists from Dwarka has been working on revival of water bodies in Dwarka for more than a year now and last year a Joint Committee of Activists and DDA was instituted by the then LG of Delhi, Shri Tejinder Khanna. The committee held several meetings but nothing big came out of them.

Not being able to get the work done effectively due to many reasons, the group of Activists met Shri. Pravesh Verma, Member of Parliament and raised the issue of water conservation with him. The MP showed positive response and requested the Vice-Chairman of DDA, Shri. Balvinder Singh to look into the matter and get the water bodies revived. The activists also met the area MLA Shri Rajesh Gehlot to raise the same issue of water bodies. As a result, the Chief Engineer, Dwarka (DDA) took the initiative and called a meeting of Activists and all concerned Engineers today (11th June 2014) in his office to do away with the road blocks which are causing the delay in work.

It has been informed that the Chief Engineer Shri D P Singh has instructed his officials to get the excavation work started on all water bodies immediately. Singh will himself visit, on Saturday, all the water bodies proposed to be revived this year in order to further fasten up the work.

Activists Mr. Diwan Singh and Mr. Mann who are also the members of the Committee constituted by the former LG along with Mr. Shobhit Chauhan, President, Ek Sangharsh and Mr. Rajeev Solanki, Social Activist were present in the meeting.

Mr. Subhash Verma, SE (Circle 13 and Nodal Officer for Water Bodies), Mr. Bhajanlal Goyal, AE and Mr. Brijlal, Director, Horticulture were present from DDA in the meeting called by the Chief Engineer.
