Cyber Monday made its debut on 28 November, 2005, in US.
After long period of its debut “Cyber Monday” is coming to India too on 12th December, 2012, thanks to google.
Google has partnered with a host of e-commerce players of India and bring its own version of ‘Cyber Monday’ on 12 December.
Cyber Monday is a marketing term for the Monday after Black Friday, the Friday following Thanksgiving in the US. The term Cyber Monday was created by marketing companies to persuade people to shop online.
In US, Cyber Monday is the day when online vendors slash prices on almost every product they sell, on the first Monday after Thanksgiving to boost sales in the holiday season making it almost like the best day in the year to buy products online.
“The Great Indian Online Shopping Festival” includes almost every known and unknown e-commerce websites selling products online in India. It includes eBay India, Flipkart, Snapdeal, IndiatimesShopping, Makemytrip, Yebhi.com, firstcry.com, Homeshop18.com, Croma, Gitanjali Group, Monster India, Tradus, GoIbibo and many more brands.
The initiative is aimed at encouraging shoppers to adopt online shopping with a focus to reach out to first time online buyers. The participating companies will also offer special deals for the first time buyers on their websites. The festival will offer them an opportunity to shop for jewellery, shoes, apparel, travel packages, books, kids wear, gadgets, watches, computer accessories, health and fitness equipment, home decor products and great deals on real estate.
