NEW DELHI: All pending cases in the Delhi high court regarding sexual harassment of women will be heard on a “priority basis”.
The high court, in an administrative decision on Wednesday, decided to segregate and prioritize cases relating to sexual harassment on women, following a directive from Chief Justice D Murugesan.
A circular issued by High Court says: “Chief Justice has desired that considering the large pendency of cases related to sexual harassment (of) women, priority will be given to such cases.”
“It has been directed that all such cases will be segregated … and listed before the courts on priority basis,” it reads, clarifying that these matters will be taken up after part heard matters and put up on display in the daily cause list. The move follows the gang-rape of 23-year-old woman in a moving bus on December 16, 2012.
